Staying informed about the political landscape is an important part of running a business in our region. Here's a roundup of some local political developments that may be relevant to MCC members.
The political landscape on the Gold Coast is shifting, with One Nation launching a new branch in the federal seat of Moncrieff, traditionally considered a safe Liberal seat. Federal Member for Moncrieff Angie Bell secured the seat with 41.9 per cent of the vote, but the new One Nation presence signals growing competition in the region.
Closer to home, Member for Mudgeeraba Leon Rebello has been active on local concerns, with his published speeches addressing health funding and the need for real access to doctors on the Gold Coast. MCC members with business interests in health services and community infrastructure may wish to follow Rebello's advocacy in the Queensland Parliament.
Keeping a close eye on both state and federal political developments helps us as a business community stay ahead of changes that could affect local services, infrastructure, and the broader economic environment. We encourage MCC members to stay engaged — if you have thoughts on any of these issues or would like to raise a local business concern, get in touch with the Mudgeeraba Chamber of Commerce and let your voice be heard.
