Consumer Confidence Flat as FY27 Gets Underway

Newsletter section image

As FY27 kicks off, the latest consumer sentiment data paints a cautious picture for Australian households — and that has direct implications for local businesses here in Mudgeeraba.

Sentiment on personal finances has softened heading into the new financial year, with only 22% of respondents — down 2 percentage points — expecting their family to be better off over the next 12 months.

For local businesses, flat consumer confidence means trading conditions may remain challenging in the near term. Keeping a close eye on household spending trends and adjusting marketing or promotional strategies accordingly could help Mudgeeraba businesses navigate this cautious environment and maintain momentum through the second half of 2026.

Staying informed and connected is one of the best tools available to local business owners during uncertain times. We encourage MCC members to share what you're seeing on the ground — your insights help build a stronger picture for our whole business community. Reach out to the Mudgeeraba Chamber of Commerce to connect with fellow members and access resources to help your business stay resilient.
